The Bahia Cotton Growers Association (ABAPA) is a non-profit organization established by cotton producers in 2000 in the city of Barreiras, in the western portion of the Brazilian state of Bahia. The purpose of the organization is to represent Bahia cotton producers in a sustainable and integrated manner and to promote Bahia cotton all over the world.

In the 2011/2012 season, Bahia is expected to harvest more than 1,000,000 acres compared to 136,000 acres in the 2000/2001 season.

Known as one of the best cotton in the planet, Bahia cotton has won consumers around the globe. The development of new varieties, efficient management employed in the field, the harvest with high-tech equipment and quality processing plants are responsible for the excellent performance of the cotton culture in Bahia. The results can be given for excellence in quality scores of the fiber as micronaire, strength, maturity, length and uniformity.
